The Key Laboratory of Mechatronic Engineering was approved as the key laboratory of Ministry of Construction in 2001. The laboratory presided and finished more than 200 academic research projects, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, International Cooperation Programs, National Key New Product Promotion Plan, National Torch Program, programs from Ministry of Construction, Liaoning Science and Technology Research Project, projects from Department of Education of Liaoning Province and Shenyang Municipal Government, including 15 national level research projects and accumulating total research funding for over 30 million yuan. In recent years, the laboratory has published more than 400 journal papers, with 90 papers included in the three major search agencies. The lab has also achieved 33 all-level awards, published 6 high quality academic works, applied 22 patents and obtained 7 authorizations. The laboratory has cultivated a lot of professional talents, including 2 Ph.D, 31 graduates. At present, there are 10 Ph.D and 70 postgraduate candidates studying in the laboratory. The laboratory has been cooperating with China State Construction, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co..Ltd, China Academy of Building Research, Xuzhou Heavy Industry Group and Sany Heavy Industry Group, creating economic benefits of nearly 500 million yuan.
